Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA)

The Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA) is a Non-Profit Organization (Carrom Association) dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of carrom across Tamil Nadu.


Our Role

Rather than positioning itself as a state authority, TNCA functions as a training and coaching platform that indirectly supports the growth of carrom. Through structured programs and community-driven initiatives, TNCA provides opportunities for players to learn, practice, and compete.


Our Initiatives

TNCA facilitates and supports:

  • The Chief Minister Trophy
  • School Games Federation of India (SGFI) events
  • Republic Day Sports (RDS) 
  • Bharathiar Day Sports (BDS) 
  • Tamil Nadu Open / Invitational Carrom Tournaments
  • Other Activities enriching Carrom


These initiatives are designed to:

  • Encourage participation across districts.
  • Provide coaching and exposure to competitive play.
  • Build a pipeline for young talent to progress toward higher levels.
  • Strengthen carrom’s presence in schools, colleges, and communities.


Our Commitment

  • TNCA is not a government-recognised at present.
  • All activities are community-recognised and focused on grassroots development.
  • TNCA is actively working toward formal recognition from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and alignment with the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025.

            Student Program Teams – District-Level Mandate


            Every district is encouraged to establish a dedicated Student Program Team under the Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA). These teams will prioritize carrom promotion, youth engagement, and grassroots development, functioning as supportive platforms for schools and communities.


            🏆 CM Trophy – Carrom


            The Chief Minister’s Trophy (CM Trophy) – Carrom is conducted under the aegis of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and is among the most prestigious government-backed sporting events in the state.

            TNCA aligns its initiatives with the CM Trophy framework, supporting talent identification and youth participation across districts. While TNCA is not yet formally recognised by SDAT or the Government of Tamil Nadu, it is actively working toward such recognition.

            The CM Trophy serves as a platform to:

            • Identify and nurture carrom talent from every district.
            • Promote discipline, focus, and community pride through sport.
            • Showcase carrom as an inclusive and developmental activity.

            Key Responsibilities of District Student Program Teams


            📊 Compile & Maintain School Database

            • Create a comprehensive list of government and private schools and their student populations.
            • Update this list quarterly to include new institutions.


            📣 Awareness & Outreach

            • Deliver presentations, demonstration matches, and introductory workshops at targeted schools.
            • Distribute brochures and digital materials on carrom’s benefits and available government sports schemes.


            🏅 Talent Identification & Registration

            • Select and register new players for the Tamil Nadu Carrom Talent Registry (community-recognised).
            • Coordinate trial sessions and maintain detailed performance records.


            🎓 Student Training Programs

            • Design age- and skill-appropriate training modules covering fundamentals, tactics, and match readiness.
            • Engage certified coaches for regular practice sessions and progress tracking.


            🏟 Facilities Coordination

            • Liaise with the District Sports and Development Authority (SDAT) to secure courts, equipment, and venue bookings.

              District Carrom Associations – Legal Framework

              Mission Statement


              The Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA) affirms its mission to promote widespread awareness of carrom among players and institutions, thereby enabling participants to access and utilize sports benefits available under state and central government schemes.


              Independent Executive Committees

              Each district shall establish an Independent Executive Committee functioning under the umbrella of TNCA. These committees shall be autonomous in their operations while adhering to TNCA’s standards, policies, and applicable government regulations.


              Powers and Responsibilities

              The District Executive Committee shall have the following legally mandated functions:


              Tournament Regulation

              • Organize and regulate carrom competitions within the district.
              • Ensure compliance with TNCA guidelines and fair play principles.


              Referee Certification and Oversight

              • Certify, appoint, and supervise referees to guarantee impartiality and consistency.
              • Maintain a registry of qualified referees and enforce disciplinary standards.


              Coach Accreditation and Development

              • Accredit and monitor coaches to ensure adherence to TNCA’s training framework.
              • Facilitate continuous professional development for coaches to achieve high-performance standards.


              Policy Enforcement and Liaison

              • Implement TNCA policies at the district level.
              • Liaise with relevant government agencies and sports authorities for coordination and compliance.
              • Uphold professionalism, transparency, and accountability in all district activities.


              Legal Standing


              • District Carrom Associations are affiliated bodies of TNCA, empowered to act within the scope of TNCA’s constitution and bylaws.
              • These committees shall not claim independent state-level authority but shall function as community-recognised entities aligned with TNCA’s mission.
              • All actions must conform to applicable laws, TNCA’s governing framework, and directions issued by competent authorities.


              Office Bearers – Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA)

              The governance of the Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA) shall be vested in its duly elected and appointed Office Bearers. These individuals are entrusted with responsibilities in accordance with TNCA’s Constitution and Bylaws and shall act within the scope of TNCA’s objectives and applicable laws.

              • Provides overall leadership and strategic direction.
              • Presides over meetings and represents TNCA in official capacities.

              • All Office Bearers act in a fiduciary capacity for TNCA and are accountable to its members.
              • Their authority is limited to TNCA’s internal governance framework and does not extend to statutory or government powers.
              • Decisions must comply with TNCA’s Constitution, Bylaws, and applicable laws of Tamil Nadu.
              • Office Bearers shall not claim or imply government recognition unless formally granted by competent authorities.
